Mazi v. Suozzi... NY-03 has a decision to make!
Vote wisely- remember who created our current problems.
A friend asked my opinion regarding the special election for US Congress in NY-03. Here is my response. If you are voting in NY-03, I hope you can agree.
There are many people who are totally confused by this race, and the plethora of mail from both parties has been horrendous. Each party wants to undercut the other, and of course each party wants to promote itself. That's politics.
I'm going to try to put politics aside and approach this logically. I know Tom Suozzi personally, and I know Mazi As well. Both are quite personable and friendly, and I have never had an issue with either on a personal level. I have worked with Tom on veteran issues, and I even met him in Normandy where I introduced him to the mayor of Sainte Mere Eglise. It is always nice when you can one-up a congressman. He was totally flabbergasted that I knew the mayor, but I had met him five years earlier.
I have known Mazi Pilip from the time she initially ran for county legislator and have met with her on many occasions. She is candid, straightforward, and dedicated to upholding our constitution the way it was meant to be Supported.
I will now allow my opinions to show as those opinions ohh what will direct my vote. I've already said that I like Tom Suozzi on a personal level, but he is a career politician who has been part of the problem, and helped to create the situation we are in now. He stood shoulder to shoulder with the liberal progressives who destroyed our southern border, imported illegals into our country, and has devastated our economy with the need now to support them financially. I have always been pro-immigration, but only if it is done legally. My grandparents came here legally through Ellis Island. They had to prove themselves before they were permitted in. That is the way it has always been, and it is the way it needs to be. These illegals are sapping our economy, and the benefits they get are diverted from American citizens and veterans who need them and are entitled to them. They are part of the reason that our national debt has skyrocketed, and I don't hold Trump blameless, but at least he wanted a secure border.
If you examine Tom's past, you will see how ludicrous his election slogan is: “We can fix this.” The voters need to understand that swazi stood shoulder to shoulder with the liberal progressives and is part of the reason that we are in this position to begin with. He helped to break it- now he wants to fix it? These reasons alone are enough for me not to want him to get another term in Congress.
Let us now turn to Mazi Pilip. She is bright, energetic, patriotic, and completely aware of the problems that face us. She has done a fantastic job as a county legislator, and I am sorry to see her leave that post if she gets elected to Congress. I am still not clear on her precise position regarding abortion, but as a congressperson at the federal level she will have nothing to do with determinations as to abortion. The Supreme Court has already spoken on that and has decided appropriately that abortion is a state matter. Those of us who read the constitution and understand it know that there are powers that are delegated to the federal government. Any power that is not delegated to the federal government is relegated to the states, and they are free to act as their state residents wish them to, And hopefully they comply with their constituents’ wishes. Therefore, her opinions regarding the abortion issue are exactly that-opinions. Any legal actions in this state regarding abortion will come through the statehouses in Albany. It remains to be seen what they produce, but I expect New York will always follow the liberal rule and allow abortions, and the only time I am adamantly opposed to those abortions is when they want to do them in the late term or even after birth. In my mind this is murder. Women have enough solutions available to them in initial stages of their sexual activity to prevent a pregnancy in the first place, and men have always had the ability to use birth control measures as well. I will stop with that because I get quite angry when I hear these liberal progressive women spouting, “My body, my right!” Right to what? Murder? We need to have sensible dialogue, not ultimatums.
The bottom line on all of this is that Mazi Pilip has my total support and we'll get my vote. We need some good fighters for the constitution and our American rights that have been eroded during the Obama administration and the Biden administration. We need to get this country back on course before it's too late. If I sound angry, I am. I did not wear the uniform of my country to watch it go down the drain. I will not use slogans or platitudes, but we are running out of time. There are two critical elections ahead of us- this special election now for U.S. Congress and the election in November when we can restore integrity and patriotism to our federal government. Vote your conscience and remember that elections have consequences. We are living through some of them right now.
Very well written! I agree wholeheartedly.
